CESSI 2024 Classes

11 students spent the summer studying Kazakh, Tajik, and Uyghur

Five were Title VIII Fellows, three were FLAS Fellows, and three received partial scholarships from CREECA or WISLI.

Elementary & Intermediate Kazakh

Gulnara Glowacki taught two students elementary and intermediate Kazakh. In July, they had the opportunity to meet the Kazakh Ambassador to the United States Yerzhan Ashikbayev.

Elementary Tajik

Mekhriniso Rakhmatova traveled from Uzbekistan to teach elementary Tajik to three students.

Elementary, Intermediate, & Advanced Uyghur

The six Uyghur students were taught by Akbar Amat (intermediate and advanced) and Mahire Yakup (elementary).
